Treatment For a Deviated Septum
A deviated septum occurs when the wall between your two nasal passages is off-centered, which makes one nasal passage smaller than the other. This can:
- Make it hard to breathe
- Cause nosebleeds
- Increase your noisy breathing when you sleep
If you develop severe symptoms due to your deviated septum, our expert Ear, Nose and Throat (ENT) specialists may recommend a septoplasty.
What is a Septoplasty?
During a septoplasty, your ENT surgeon will reshape the bone and cartilage of your septum to even out your nasal passages. This is normally an outpatient procedure, and you can go home the same day. After surgery, we will schedule follow-up appointments with your ENT surgeon to answer any questions you may have and ensure everything is healing well.
